Jurgen Klopp insists he will ‘really try to enjoy’ the Premier League title race – and insists his Liverpool side are ‘less nervous’ than in previous title races.
Sunday saw a goalless draw between Manchester City and Arsenal after Klopp’s Liverpool came from a goal down to beat Brighton 2-1. Liverpool now lead Arsenal by two points and City a point further back.
“We have to get through this (and) we decide whether we like it or not,” he said. “It will be hard and yes it is nerve-wracking at times and the heart rate will be at 180 or 200 or whatever from time to time whether you watch it or play it. But if we all enjoy it together then we have a luck. If we don’t have it, we still have a chance, it’s really much more difficult and that’s why we try to stay positive in all these moments.
“It’s a great situation where the boys have got us. We’re here with two other teams fighting for the biggest prize in English football and we’ll see how it ends. But I’ve decided that I’ll really do my best to enjoy it.”
Klopp added that he thinks his team has more self-confidence than previous iterations: “When I talk about being nervous as a whole, we were even more nervous years ago.
“It’s a long time ago, but it’s something we’ve had to develop together… If we all appreciate this, then we have a chance. If we don’t, we still have a chance, it “It’s definitely more difficult and that’s why we try to stay positive in all these moments.”
