Real Madrid striker Joselu says even his dreams couldn’t match the reality of last night’s Champions League semi-final second leg victory over Bayern Munich.
Joselu, 34, came on as a late substitute with Madrid trailing 1-0 on the night, losing 3-2 on aggregate and then scoring in the 88th and 91st minutes to give his side a famous victory.
“I’m trying to make the most of my chances,” Joselu said. “Like two years ago, this is what it feels like to be a Real Madrid fan. I had the opportunity to go and support Madrid and now I’m experiencing it firsthand.
“It’s a dream come true to have nights like this. My dreams aren’t as good as what happened. As a striker you dream of scoring goals, and if it’s like that, even better.
Joselu has spent much of his career outside of elite club football, with his previous clubs including Stoke City, Newcastle United, Hannover and Alaves.
The Spaniard is currently on loan at Madrid from Espanyol, who were relegated from La Liga last season despite scoring 16 goals.
