Dallas police are searching for Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice in connection with a multi-vehicle crash in northeast Dallas, Texas, Saturday evening, according to a report from the Dallas Morning News.
A vehicle believed to have been registered or leased to Rice was involved in the crash, according to the report. The Dallas Morning News said it obtained a police call sheet confirming that authorities were looking for Rice in connection with the crash.
Rice’s alleged involvement is unclear. He did not appear in Dallas County jail records as of 2:50 p.m. ET Sunday.
Ted Crews, executive vice president of communications for the Chiefs, declined to comment when contacted by Athleticism. Messages sent to Rice’s agent, Cliff LaBoy, were not immediately responded to.
Police responded to the crash on a highway around 6:25 p.m. CT Saturday, according to a police statement obtained by Athleticism. The preliminary investigation determined that the driver of a Corvette and the driver of a Lamborghini were traveling at a high speed and lost control. The Lamborghini hit the center median wall, causing a chain collision involving four other vehicles, police said.
The drivers of the Lamborghini and Corvette fled the scene, according to the release. Two other drivers involved in the crash were treated at the scene for minor injuries and two occupants of another vehicle were taken to hospital with minor injuries. The investigation and identification of suspects are ongoing, according to police.
Rice, 23, grew up in North Richland Hills, a suburb of Fort Worth, and played college football at SMU. The Chiefs drafted him in the second round in 2023, and he became one of their top receivers last season.
Rice recorded 938 receiving yards and 79 receptions in 16 regular season games in 2023. He added 262 yards and 26 receptions in four playoff games en route to the Chiefs’ Super Bowl victory.
