Welcome to our final NHL-style power rankings from the regular season.
For us it was something new and different. We both had some interest in fashion and thought it would be nice to work together. Like anything, we can build on it and improve it – and we’re happy to consider suggestions – but it’s been a fun season putting them together. From our first ranking to our final ranking, we certainly learned a lot about trends in players’ clothing tastes and even our own tendencies to prefer certain looks over others.
We’ll put together a list of the best in the coming weeks, but this will be the last as the NHL prepares for the playoffs. Thank you for joining us this season!

McKenzie: Matthews looks down at the cool guy who doesn’t need to wear suits. I can look past the tie on pants, especially with the dark jacket and Dior sneakers that so many NHL players are starting to wear.
Powers: Matthews usually has a variation of this look, and it suits her well. I will say that I’m not crazy about Dior sneakers. Yes, they’re expensive and signal wealth, but they’re not respected by most sneakerheads. I would love to see Matthews make it to Joe Freshgoods.

McKenzie: We reward points for your participation in the style leaderboard. I like Jarvis’ teal suit purely for confidence reasons. He would have ranked higher if he had worn a white or lighter colored shirt and, perhaps, a fun colored tie. Either way, the vibes are effervescent just because of the costume and her hair.
Powers: I don’t like this color, but if you’ve been following the entire season, you know that we encourage players to be bold in their choices. Julian may not be a fan of the dress shirt and tie, but I really like those elements of this look.

McKenzie: I love the dark blue suit. I would change the color of the tie, but this outfit, combined with the white sneakers, suits me. Another solid style from a man who is underrated among the best styles in the league.
Powers: Like Matthews, Aho has been a frequent visitor to these rankings for most of the season. This blue suit is another stunning one from him. I think a different color could have enhanced this look even more. The gray detracts from the suit for me.

Vancouver Canucks
McKenzie: I like that Zadorov cares about his style. He also likes to wear double-breasted suits, as evidenced by his latest look combined with a subtle yet flashy watch and accompanying AirPods carrying case. The dark shirt underneath doesn’t bother me in this case either.
Powers: Zadorov doesn’t stray too far from this look with any of his costumes. And why should he? This is obviously an elite look. The dark shirt and tie draw attention to the suit. If he chose a different color, it would probably attract your attention more.

McKenzie: I really like Eklund’s pink Easter costume. It would have been cooler if he had loosened and ditched the tie, even though it matched the ensemble. The sunglasses are great too. I preferred it to Fabian Zetterlund’s dark green (left), which is also stylish but not as fun.
Powers: Sometimes you feel like if you wear pink you have a chance of being chosen for this list. Nonetheless, I love this look. From head to toe, this is a great fit from Eklund.

Calgary Flames
McKenzie: Is it just me, or are the rookies showing nothing but confidence with their outfits this season? Pospíšil is a rookie on this list, but he impressed us with the blue blazer, sunglasses and matching belt and shoes.
Powers: The glasses and the shirt create such a Pospíšil vibe. The costume is fine, but it looks like what a lot of players bring. However, it’s the other aspects of the cut and the way it performs that really make this look unique.
Calgary Flames
Columbus Blue Jackets
McKenzie: From nowhere. I didn’t think Subban was going to play in the NHL this season, let alone make our style rankings. We love Subban’s patterned blazer, as well as the dark tie and dress pants.
Powers: We don’t need to see the whole look to rank this one at the top. It’s the all day coat. This color and pattern suits Subban perfectly.

New York Rangers
McKenzie: I love the dark green suit, but obviously the inner lining is fun and colorful too. It was a good year for Lafrenière on the ice. His third-place finish this week won’t rival his season highlights, but it also won’t hurt his credibility when it comes to being in New York.
Powers: The color of the dark green suit is beautiful and works very well for Lafrenière. I’m intrigued by the inner lining of the jacket. I would like to see more.

Los Angeles Kings
McKenzie: Remember when I mentioned the rookies who stood out this season? Thomas continues the trend with a look that we really liked this week. I love Thomas’ light blue suit and multi-colored tie. The white sneakers don’t detract from the outfit, crowning a surprise from the Kings rookie.
Powers: What a few weeks it’s been for Thomas. He played his first games in the NHL, then appears in our style rankings. It was a fun costume. The multi-colored tie makes it all stand out.

Luc Schmidt
McKenzie: I don’t know how many brown suits we placed first this year (maybe another example), but Gaudreau has the winner’s spot this week. The costume fits and looks great, and Gaudreau takes risks with a darker, more subtle patterned outfit. Who would have thought Gaudreau would be on this list, let alone number 1?
Powers: It would be interesting to see how many unanimous #1s we had this year. It was one of them. The pattern on Gaudreau’s suit is unique and the tie matches well. The cut exudes a lot of class.
