Los Angeles Angels star outfielder Mike Trout will undergo surgery on his left knee to repair a torn meniscus, according to team general manager Perry Minasian.
The injury is the latest setback in the three-time MVP’s attempts to regain his early career form. His 2024 season got off to an up-and-down start before the injury, as he led MLB with 10 home runs in 29 games, but slashed 220/.325/.541.
Since winning his last MVP award in 2019, Trout has played in over 82 games in one go. Calf, back and hand injuries ended prematurely in recent seasons.
The 11-time All-Star last played on Monday, during which he drew a walk, stole a base and scored a run in the Angels’ victory.
