Inter Miami have reached an agreement to sign midfielder Matias Rojas, according to sources informed of the deal. Athleticism.
Rojas, 28, has played with Corinthians since last summer but has not featured in a match since February due to a dispute with the club over non-payment of image rights. The club would have been seeks to terminate his contract. The attacking midfielder has made 30 appearances for Corinthians and has 16 caps for Paraguay.
Rojas was spotted in Miami last weekend watch his new club’s victory against Nashville. Miami created the roster flexibility to sign a player of Rojas’ stature following the departures of DeAndre Yedlin and Jean Mota last month.
The timing is perfect for Miami, which just announced that forward and fellow Paraguayan international Diego Gomez will miss approximately six weeks with a sprained ankle. Rojas can also play on the wing, where Gomez excelled.
Inter Miami currently sits at the top of the Supporters’ Shield standings with 18 points after 10 matches.
