Lauren Hemp has signed a new three-year contract with Manchester City to keep her at the club until 2027.
Hemp’s existing contract was due to expire at the end of the season, but she has now committed her future to City.
The 23-year-old England winger has played an important role in City’s title fight in the Women’s Super League (WSL) this season, scoring nine goals and six assists in 18 appearances for the league leaders.
Hemp joined the club from Bristol City in 2018 and has scored 65 goals in 157 appearances, winning both the FA Cup and Continental Cup twice during his six seasons in Manchester.
“They’re a special team,” Hemp said. “I want to take my game to the next level and I feel like I’m able to do that here. The WSL is the best league to play in.
“I feel at home here in Manchester. I am so passionate about this club and there is nowhere I would rather be. I am very excited to continue this journey over the next few years.
Hemp is a four-time PFA Young Player of the Year winner and has become an integral part of the England senior team since her move to City.
She made her debut for the Lionesses in 2019 and played an important role in the Euro 2022 triumph and their run to the 2023 World Cup final.
City director of football Nils Nielsen added: “Lauren is fearless, hard-working and one of the brightest young talents in football. What she has accomplished in such a short career is incredible, and we can’t wait to see what the next few years have in store for us as a team and for her as a player.
“The natural talent, ability and determination that Lauren possesses is evident, and we believe she can become one of the best players in the world. We’ve only scratched the surface of what it can do.
City are three points clear of second-placed Chelsea in the WSL, with Emma Hayes’ side having played a game less. The club is aiming for a first WSL title since 2016.
City return to action on Sunday with a trip to Hemp’s former team Bristol City.

My game in my words. By Manchester City and Englishwoman Lauren Hemp
How important is Hemp’s new deal for Manchester City?
Highly admired by Arsenal and Barcelona, Hemp’s revival is a huge boost for City. The fact that she signed a three-year extension is a true declaration of her willingness to be part of this project.
The 23-year-old winger poses a devastating threat to City’s attack, but as has been demonstrated for England, she can also play at number 9, which could prove crucial in the short and long term. Given Bunny Shaw’s season-ending injury.
Hemp sits third in City’s all-time rankings (65) behind Shaw and Georgia Stanway and there will be many more to come.
